Hiring February 1, 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for an experienced hands-on Facility Grower to join our team of industry professionals. Our desirable Facility Grower will have a deep understanding of growing bedding plants, perennials and hanging baskets. This individual will lead a team of growers by setting an example, will train their team in best practices and as per the crop plan and to be held accountable for the quality of the plants they grow and the safety of the team.

As a Facility Grower for Moss Greenhouses, you will be responsible for the following:

  • Lead a greenhouse team with clarity, direction, accountability, and oversee all stages of plant growth.
  • Establish a culture of accountability.
  • Efficiently schedule team for best plant maintenance.
  • Scout for pests and disease.
  • Apply chemical or fertilizer as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Horticulture, Agriculture or related field.
  • 2 plus years’ experience in a commercial greenhouse setting.

  • Ability to be hands on and lead a team.

BASIC FUNCTION

To provide the basic day to day care needed to produce a quality crop including but not limited to, pest management, chemical and fertilizer applications, movement and watering. 

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: 

The Assistant Grower/ Irrigator reports directly to the Section Grower. 

DUTIES: 

  1. Monitor the crops you are responsible for. 
  1. Apply fungicide and fertilizer as directed by the Section Grower 
  1. Effectively scout for pest infestation and or diseases. 
  1. Learn the names of plants, how to care for them and best growing applications. 
  1. Keep your work area clean and free of weeds and debris. 
  1. Consolidate flats/ blocks when needed or as directed by the Section Grower. 
  1. Learn to effectively use all equipment in your work area 
  1. Communicate potential problems with scheduling, facility equipment or work place hazards with the Section Grower.  

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE: 

  1. Over all crop quality has met or exceeded reasonable sales expectations in both quality and size. 
  1. You have effectively watered and cared for bedding plants assigned to you. 
  1. Work area has been well maintained 
  1. You have made progress in learning about bedding plants and their growing applications.
  2. Ability to work well with others. 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Must be able to speak and read English.  Some positions for non- English speaking employees under bilingual lead. 
  1. Walking 
  1. Standing 
  1. Able to lift and carry 50# 
  1. Able to push or pull loaded lizzies 
  1. Must be able to pass written test for electric cart safety 
  1. Must understand simple math equations in order to measure fertilizer rates and ratios 
  1. Must be able to write in English any crop plans notes 
  1. Must be safety minded 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  This is a working greenhouse and conditions will be typical of the environment you will be asked to work in. There may be times you are subjected to prolonged activities in inclement weather. Most greenhouse zones are climate controlled. You will be exposed to bedding plants that have been chemically treated. The bedding department is considered a 7 day work week. You may or may not work on a Saturday or Sunday, but will generally have at least 1 day off per week. You may be asked to work in the evening based on need. You will work in and around moving equipment. Smoking is prohibited in all greenhouse ranges.

Hiring March 15, 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for great company driver and merchandisers with a Class A CDL to deliver our bedding plants and hanging baskets to our wholesale customers and supermarket partners within an 800 mile radius of Jerome ID. Are you an individual that excels at customer service? Do you believe in safe and courteous driving? If this fits who you are, then we want to speak with you about our upcoming season. Our drivers must be customer service oriented and be willing to help unload product at the delivery location. All trucks will be pre-loaded, and you will be given a daily delivery route. Paid, on the job training is included. Drivers must be able to use a smart phone and be willing to download the Geotab app for hours-of-service ELD recording. We need a clean driving record which would be less than 2 points in the last three years. A variety of routes are available, ranging from local, regional, and out-of-state deliveries. Hiring February 15, 2025 Moss Greenhouses is looking for candidates for the position of Truck Loaders for Moss Greenhouses. In this position you will be responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks. Once the plant product has been assembled on rolling delivery racks, you will follow a load sheet, organized by delivery drop, to load the semi-trucks and then securely fasten each load for the delivery driver. When not loading or unloading trucks you will be helping assemble orders to be delivered to our wholesale customers. We work five to six days a week from 3 PM until the work is finished, generally around 12:00 AM. We expect our season to run through mid-June. Hiring February 15, 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for Order Processor/Assembly Team at our Jerome Facility. Think of this position as order fulfillment. You will be gathering, grading for quality, and assembling bedding plants onto rolling delivery racks at our Jerome facility which will then be shipped to our wholesale customers.

This job is seasonal (Feb- June); we expect the season to run through mid-June. We work five to six days a week starting at 7:00 am working until the days pull has been completed, usually by 5 pm. We are looking for employees that are detail oriented and take pride in their work. In this position you must be able to work in a team environment, understand verbal directions in English and be able to read documents printed in English.

Hiring starting Mid-January, 2025, Moss Greenhouses has openings in our Transplant Department for Placers. This is a full-time seasonal position that works from January to mid-June. Placers are responsible for the transportation of plants out of the Transplant Department in their finished containers to other locations on the farm.

This job requires the safe operation of golf carts and tractors to move the product on rolling trailers or racks. Placers will pick up plants from the ground and bend over to place plants on the ground hundreds of times each day. You must be able to lift 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and work from the ground. Must understand verbal instructions in English, be able to count and work in a team environment.

This team works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and an occasional Saturday may be needed to finish that week’s production. No experience is necessary. Hiring March 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for a seasonal fulltime sales representative. 40+ hours a week, 5 days a week. This position will require working Sundays.

As a Sales Representative for Moss Greenhouses, you will be

responsible for the following:

Basic Role

The role of the Retail Assistant Manager is to manage the day-to-day operations and activities of the retail store, promoting sales, managing team members, and providing exceptional customer service.  

Reporting Relationships

The Retail Assistant Manager reports to and is directly accountable to the Retail Manager. In the Retail Manager’s absence, the Assistant Manager reports to Sales/Marketing Manager.

Authority

The Retail Assistant Manager has full authority to:

  • Authorize customer refunds and special discounts
  • Coordinate Custom Planting order placing and pick ups
  • Delegation of tasks to Associates, Stocking Clerks, and Waterers
  • Control quality of product in store (cleaning, loss/toss, etc)

 

Responsibilities

  • Ensure that store is running smoothly and safely
  • Communicate with Store Manager about store operations and issues
  • Ensure that all guests are being attended to in a timely fashion
  • Managing store cleanliness and project completion
  • Ordering plant materials and store supplies; emergency stocking
  • Training Associates and Stocking Clerks
  • Reporting any schedule changing to Store Manager
  • Opening and closing duties
  • Cash register deposits and bookkeeping

 

Main Duties

  • Answering the phone during business hours
  • Posting and correcting signage throughout the store
  • Cash register operations and troubleshooting
  • Managing merchandising protocols
  • Ensuring that bathroom and other store supplies are stocked.
  • Assisting with special events and classes
  • Assisting the Store Manager with any duties not outlined herein
  • Pricing and placing new product upon delivery

  • Work up to 10 hours/day, 5-6 days/week for special events or as necessary
  • Work in all variety of weather conditions, both inside and outside the greenhouse
  • Move up and down 3 feet wide aisles safely

Basic Role

The role of the Sales Associate is to provide customer service to guests, assist with store cleanliness and organization, and promote sales by merchandising and sharing garden knowledge.

 

Reporting Relationships

The Sales Associate reports to the Retail Assistant Manager, or in their absence, the Store Manager.

 

Responsibilities

  • Greet and assist every guest that comes into the store
  • Operating the cash register/POS system (Square)
  • Ensure that guests at the register are helped as promptly as possible
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the store
  • Keeping plant materials healthy and sellable
  • Training other Sales Associates and Stocking Clerks as needed.
  • Reporting any schedule changes or other issues to Assistant or Store Manager

 

Main Duties

  • Customer service
  • Cash register operations and troubleshooting
  • Answering the phone (in-store guests are priority, however)
  • Consolidating flats and cups to keep greenhouse tables organized and clean
  • Cleaning bathrooms, Kid’s Corner, café area, and parking lot as needed

Basic Function

the Special Order tracker is responsible for tracking and marking flats and baskets that were pre-ordered the previous Fall by our wholesale customers. This job is vital in ensuring that the customers get the plants they need on specific dates throughout the peak season (April – June). Marking the flats and baskets with the proper ribbon for each customer ensures that the selection team pulls the correct product for our customers.

Reporting Relationships

The Special Order tracker reports to the Production Manager and works closely with the sales team who helped facilitate the orders and communicates with the customers.

Duties

Included but not limited to:

  1. Accurately marks the pre-ordered products with the correct ribbon color for each customer. This will include flats on the ground and hanging baskets, in both our Jerome and Buhl greenhouse locations.
  2. Monitors plant growth and relays that information to both production and sales.
  3. Monitors plants for pest and disease issues.
  4. Prepares plants for shipping.
  5. Communicates with production manager regarding any issues with pre-ordered product immediately.

 

Physical and Mental Requirements

  1. Walking
  2. Standing

  5. Able to lift and carry 50 lbs
  6. Able to push or pull carts with many racks of plants on them
  7. Must pass our Cart Training Class
  8. Must be able to operate a scissor lift and not be afraid of heights
  9. Ideally will have a basic knowledge of Excel spreadsheets
  10. Must be able to differentiate between similar ribbon colors
  11. Must be willing to work weekends during the peak season

 

Qualifications

  1. Some basic bedding plant knowledge is helpful
  2. Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is helpful, but not necessary
  3. Must have transportation to drive from Jerome to Buhl as needed, possibly 1-2 x per week
  4. Must be a team player as you will be working with many departments on the farm
  5. Must have a positive attitude
  6. Must be open to new ideas and constructive criticism
  7. Take full responsibility for your assigned duties
  8. Pursue excellence in every task, intention, and endeavor
  9. Willing to work in other departments as needed

 

Working Conditions

This is a working greenhouse, and conditions will vary from house to house, and outdoor locations. You will be marking plants both indoors and outdoors. There may be times when you are subjected to prolonged activities in inclement weather. You will be exposed to plants that have been chemically treated. During the peak season, you may be asked to work 6 days a week. You may work 50 hours or more in any given work week. You may or may not receive Saturday or Sunday off, but will always have a minimum of 1 day off per week. You may be asked to work into the evening based on need. Smoking and vaping is prohibited in and around any greenhouses. There are 2 designated smoking areas on the farm. Hands must be washed thoroughly before handling any plant material.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: 

The Assistant Grower/ Irrigator reports directly to the Section Grower. 

DUTIES: 

  1. Monitor the crops you are responsible for. 
  1. Apply fungicide and fertilizer as directed by the Section Grower 
  1. Effectively scout for pest infestation and or diseases. 
  1. Learn the names of plants, how to care for them and best growing applications. 
  1. Keep your work area clean and free of weeds and debris. 
  1. Consolidate flats/ blocks when needed or as directed by the Section Grower. 
  1. Learn to effectively use all equipment in your work area 
  1. Communicate potential problems with scheduling, facility equipment or work place hazards with the Section Grower.  

MEASUREMENTS OF PERFORMANCE: 

  1. Over all crop quality has met or exceeded reasonable sales expectations in both quality and size. 
  1. You have effectively watered and cared for bedding plants assigned to you. 
  1. Work area has been well maintained 
  1. You have made progress in learning about bedding plants and their growing applications.
  2. Ability to work well with others. 

PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS: 

  1. Must be able to speak and read English.  Some positions for non- English speaking employees under bilingual lead. 
  1. Walking 
  1. Standing 
  1. Able to lift and carry 50# 
  1. Able to push or pull loaded lizzies 
  1. Must be able to pass written test for electric cart safety 
  1. Must understand simple math equations in order to measure fertilizer rates and ratios 
  1. Must be able to write in English any crop plans notes 
  1. Must be safety minded 

WORKING CONDITIONS:  This is a working greenhouse and conditions will be typical of the environment you will be asked to work in. There may be times you are subjected to prolonged activities in inclement weather. Most greenhouse zones are climate controlled. You will be exposed to bedding plants that have been chemically treated. The bedding department is considered a 7 day work week. You may or may not work on a Saturday or Sunday, but will generally have at least 1 day off per week. You may be asked to work in the evening based on need. You will work in and around moving equipment. Smoking is prohibited in all greenhouse ranges.

Hiring March 15, 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for great company driver and merchandisers with a Class A CDL to deliver our bedding plants and hanging baskets to our wholesale customers and supermarket partners within an 800 mile radius of Jerome ID. Are you an individual that excels at customer service? Do you believe in safe and courteous driving? If this fits who you are, then we want to speak with you about our upcoming season. Our drivers must be customer service oriented and be willing to help unload product at the delivery location. All trucks will be pre-loaded, and you will be given a daily delivery route. Paid, on the job training is included. Drivers must be able to use a smart phone and be willing to download the Geotab app for hours-of-service ELD recording. We need a clean driving record which would be less than 2 points in the last three years. A variety of routes are available, ranging from local, regional, and out-of-state deliveries. Moss Greenhouses has an opening for a Machine Technician starting Mid-January, 2025. Our successful candidate will have at least 2 years’ experience with computerized robotic machinery along with a mechanical aptitude. This is a key position on our assembly line and daily production output is directly related to the successful operation and speed of the machine.

Our ideal candidate will have had experience leading a crew, having an eye for quality and works well in a team environment. When this line is not in service, our tech will work on servicing other belt operated lines and/or working as needed in other departments.

Hiring February 15, 2025 Moss Greenhouses is looking for candidates for the position of Truck Loaders for Moss Greenhouses. In this position you will be responsible for the loading and unloading of trucks. Once the plant product has been assembled on rolling delivery racks, you will follow a load sheet, organized by delivery drop, to load the semi-trucks and then securely fasten each load for the delivery driver. When not loading or unloading trucks you will be helping assemble orders to be delivered to our wholesale customers. We work five to six days a week from 3 PM until the work is finished, generally around 12:00 AM. We expect our season to run through mid-June. Hiring February 15, 2025. Moss Greenhouses is looking for Order Processor/Assembly Team at our Jerome Facility. Think of this position as order fulfillment. You will be gathering, grading for quality, and assembling bedding plants onto rolling delivery racks at our Jerome facility which will then be shipped to our wholesale customers.

This job is seasonal (Feb- June); we expect the season to run through mid-June. We work five to six days a week starting at 7:00 am working until the days pull has been completed, usually by 5 pm. We are looking for employees that are detail oriented and take pride in their work. In this position you must be able to work in a team environment, understand verbal directions in English and be able to read documents printed in English.

Hiring starting Mid-January, 2025, Moss Greenhouses has openings in our Transplant Department. This position is responsible for the transplanting of seedlings into their finished containers. Our transplant team will perform their job functions working from a conveyor belt. You may be planting seedlings, 1 or 2-gallon containers, or even hanging baskets.

Our work week is Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and an occasional Saturday may be needed to finish that week’s production. On average you will be working 40 plus hours a week. We are looking for enthusiastic candidates that want to learn more about the greenhouses industry.

Hiring starting Mid-January, 2025, Moss Greenhouses has openings in our Transplant Department for Placers. This is a full-time seasonal position that works from January to mid-June. Placers are responsible for the transportation of plants out of the Transplant Department in their finished containers to other locations on the farm.

This job requires the safe operation of golf carts and tractors to move the product on rolling trailers or racks. Placers will pick up plants from the ground and bend over to place plants on the ground hundreds of times each day. You must be able to lift 30 pounds, bend, stoop, and work from the ground. Must understand verbal instructions in English, be able to count and work in a team environment.

This team works Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm, and an occasional Saturday may be needed to finish that week’s production. No experience is necessary.
