Grass, Erianthus Ravennae Hardy Pampas

Description

Pampas Grass  PAM-puhs

Native to South America, Pampas Grass is considered one of the most spectacular ornamental grasses. It was first introduced into the U. S. in 1848 and for many years now has been grown as an ornamental plant in certain southern and western parts of the U.S. It has also been grown commercially for harvest of its large flower plumes for use in dried arrangements. Extremely eye-catching, it features magnificent, dense tussocks of arching, narrow green leaves with margins like razors, that are gracefully topped from summer to fall by huge, silky, silvery-white or cream plumes. This grass can be used in mass landscapes to create dramatic backdrops, view barriers or wind screens. Performs best in full-sun or light-shade.
